After nearly 40 years of working as a software engineer at various companies, both large and small, I decided to retire. So, what does an engineer do after spending decades with such a singular focus?

As my father-in-law, a proud veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps, always said, "Once a Marine, always a Marine!" I’ll repurpose that to say, "Once an engineer, always an engineer!" But now, without an employer to set requirements, priorities, and deadlines, what projects should I tackle?

This is the purpose of this website: to document the steps—and inevitable missteps—of my journey as I transform into an engineer at large. Unbound by time constraints, I’m free to engage in projects I previously found too time consuming.
